In my drawings and paintings I try to capture the essence of my subject, whether in flowers, still life or portraits. I try to paint how it feels to me, the essence, the soul. I am drawn to paint a subject because it speaks to me in some way and I aim to interpret that onto the canvas. Colors fascinate me and individuals’ essence stimulate me to try to capture them in charcoal or watercolor; that spirit, that moment, that life.
