Women come in all different shapes and sizes. No one size or shape is better than others. What’s ideal for any woman is to be healthy, happy, and balanced, in mind, body, and spirit. I can’t change your body’s overall form, but there are definitely ways that you can use color, shape, line, and focus to alter the way that you appear. Here are strategies to implement when dressing, to flatter your unique shape:
Triangle:
If you have a triangle shape, you are larger on the bottom half of your body and smaller up top. In other words, your hips are at least a bit wider than your shoulders and/or bust. You’ll want to balance your figure by tapering in at the waist and giving the appearance of narrowing at the hips and widening at the shoulders.
Do:
-
Wear light or bright colors and patterns on top, dark colors on the bottom.
-
Wear tops with strong shoulder seams that match up with your shoulder.
-
Tops should have a collar that points outward.
-
Try to find blouses, shirts, sweaters, and jackets that have horizontal stripes, capped sleeves, soft shoulder pads, and other accents at the shoulder area.
-
Wear flattering colors next to your face on all tops, necklaces, earrings, and scarves.
-
Wear large cowl-neck collars and wide necklines, like boat-neck or square necked sweaters and T-shirts.
-
Wear scarves on your shoulders that are positioned so that they give a wide horizontal look rather than hang down your body in a vertical line.
-
Jackets should cover your rear.
-
Pop the collar of crisp blouses.
Do not:
-
Do not wear light or white pants, shorts, or skirts.
-
Don’t wear collarless tops or jackets.
-
Don’t buy sweaters or jackets with a peplum (flare outward) or any other accent at the hip line.
-
Don’t wear cropped jackets and tops that end at the waist.
-
Don’t choose pants, skirts, or shorts with side pockets that stick out, or with embellished back pockets that call attention to the caboose.
