The weather forecast says that today is the last day for this gorgeous weather we’ve been having. Boo hoo. We’ve been spoiled.
At least here in Colorado, we’ve still been wearing our warm-weather wardrobe, for the most part. From what we hear on the news, it’s time to transition to cold-weather clothes now.
That doesn’t mean everything you’ve had in your closet for the last six months has to be packed up and shipped out. Just some pieces need to be folded and put away in a spare closet or basement drawer for the winter. Those pieces are things like shorts, white pants, sun dresses, light cotton sweaters and jackets, and other obvious summer styles.
You can still make good use out of much of your wardrobe by keeping year-round gems and switching out seasonal-only shoes and accessories. You’ll actually be creating “new” outfits from what you already have in your closet! Here are some examples.
#1a. Warm weather outfit: tan jacket, white tank, white necklace, beige slacks, nude flats.
#1b. Cool weather outfit: same tan jacket, brown tank, amber and gold necklace, light brown slacks, brown booties.
#2a. Warm weather outfit: brown skirt with pink cameo trim, tan and pink striped jacket, pink necklace, nude heels.
#2b. Cool weather outfit: same brown skirt, green velvet jacket, amber and gold necklace, brown heels, (ultra sheer nude hose recommended in cold weather.)
#3a. Warm weather casual outfit: cobalt blue jeans, sheer blouse with white camisole, pastel necklace, black strappy flat sandals.
#3b. Cool weather outfit: same cobalt blue jeans, aqua long sleeved wool sweater, heavy blue necklace, saddle booties.
#3c. Cold weather outfit: same cobalt blue jeans, aqua long sleeved wool sweater, blue and gold scarf, dark brown booties.
We’ve been blessed with great weather in many parts of the U.S. this fall, but sadly it’s time to say bye-bye to those beautiful days. Transition your wardrobe by keeping on hand what can be worn year round and switching out summer staples for winter warmth. Use those wardrobe pieces to create stunning outfits that will communicate who you are authentically, to everyone who sees you.
